Why I Got Into Real Estate

I don't like people to do things for me. Even when I do charity events, the less cooks in the kitchen, the better.

With a few of our own real estate transactions over the years, we didn’t have the best experience. If you know Jason and I, we’re not high maintenance people. Seriously, we don't ask for a lot. But of course, I do have a few small expectations when moving into a new house. Everything else I can figure out on my own, thanks to moving so often. All I really need is:

1. House keys and garage door opener

2. Mailbox number and keys

3. A reminder of what day is garbage day :)

Pretty simple, right? Believe it or not, it hasn't been. One day after one of our moves, Jason said to me, “why don't you do this yourself?” So I did. I went online (with the encouragement from friends as well) and signed up to start the journey to get my real estate license. After a lot of hours spent studying, reviewing, and talking to others in the industry, I completed my exam in October and started my new career in real estate! I wanted to get into real estate and do everything I can to make the transaction for others a lot better than some of ours have been. It's such an exciting time in peoples lives, and I want to be there to help and make sure they have everything they need!

Something that drew me to pursue real estate was being able to manipulate my schedule and generally set my own hours. With this career, I can be there for the kids, especially when Jason is gone. I can go on trips and be able to work from anywhere with my laptop in tow. When making this choice, it was important that I would still be able to spend time working on my charity events, and this allows me to be able to juggle schedules and meetings.

After passing my exam, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to the great group at Charles Real Estate. I was drawn to this amazing group of people for a few reasons, but mostly because it’s a small and supportive team. Everyone gets along so well, and they’re all great at being there for each other to help and assist.

With all of our moving over the years, I’ve definitely gained a passion for real estate. I love observing changes in the market, and especially exploring all the different styles of houses and renovations. I find it exciting and every transaction is a learning experience, one that I’m enjoying so much! It’s been a busy start to 2018 and hope to continue that!

Our office is located right in Britannia, so if you ever want to stop by for a coffee at the new Monogram and chat about the housing market, let me know!
