Jason's Retirement Party

A year ago Jason told me he didn't want a retirement party.... I've never really been one who likes to be told what I can't do, so I went for it and started planning! He had an amazing career and I thought that we needed to celebrate! I reached out to teams he has played for, and they sent me highlight videos and professional pictures (which went into a guest book). I also reached out to some former teammates and had them send in video messages. That was my favourite part of the whole party. The messages were hilarious and so nice. I had a video reel made of the highlights from teams and the messages from guys. I watched the video SO many times. I was even able to reach out to CM Punk (WWE wrestler) and he sent a message in as well. For those of you who don't know - Jason is a die hard WWE fan!

We had a great turn out of guests from every pocket of Jason's life. I wish I had taken more pictures, but I was busy visiting and having a good time!

Its wild to say bye to that chapter of our life. It was a crazy one... threw us a lot of challenges. But when I look back, I wouldn't have changed any of it. From getting traded while 9 months pregnant, long distance with Jason for two seasons so Ryder could get therapy services, to all the good friends we have made over the years. It was unreal. We were so fortunate to have amazing teammates... some who have become best friends of ours. Our hockey family is an amazing community, and most days I wouldn't have been able to get through it without them. And of course the love and support from our friends and family back home. But no one gets it like our hockey friends, and we are forever grateful to have them all.. This includes Jason's agent; he has been an amazing mentor over the years and such a genuine and amazing person. I do not know what we would have done without him!

A huge thank you to National on 8th for accommodating us and making it such an amazing party. Also a big thank you to everyone who contributed to the party, we love you all!
